Table Mountain National Park warns visitors to be fire wise

On the eve of New Year’s Eve, the table Mountain national Park has warned visitors and residents to be firewise and at responsibility during this period. It stated that additional firefighting resources will be on standby as well as Volunteer Wildlife services (VWS) which will be actively patrolling known hotspots. In a statement, it reminded the public that no fireworks, flaress, Chinese lanterns or any form of open flames will be permitted in or near the park. TMNP also stated that Signal hill which traditiona receives high visitor volumes on New Year’s eve remains a high risk area for fire ignition. “Visitors are urged to park responsibly, and ensure that emergency vehicles have clear access and to assist by immediately reporting any fires or unsafe behavior. early reporting is critical to preventing small fires from escalatinginto major incidents,” it said.
