Mayor hails oneness as reason for success

Collins Chabane Local municipality mayor Shadrack Maluleke has praised his colleagues and cited unity as the reason for its success.
Speaking during the budget speech event, said his municipality was the best in the province and displayed trophies and certificates attained.
The municipality has received award for 100 per cent MIG spending and receiving additional MIG allocation.
The municipality has received appreciation for receiving additional MIG allocation.
The municipality further revived appreciation for sustaining unqualified audit opinion and a special award for spending 100 per cent on additional MIG funding.
“The municipality will continue to strengthen internal control measures through internal audits, risk section and political oversight,” he said.
The mayor praised his colleagues in the council and the management led by municipal manager Richard Shilenge for success.
Shilenge said all the projects cited in the budget by the mayor have been budgeted for.
There was a clamping of hands amidst excitement when Maluleke announced that the South African Local Government Association had decided to name their awards after the late mayor Moses Maluleke from next year.
He said it meant the legacy of the late popular mayor who was shot dead at his home two years ago would continue.
The event was grace with the attendance of Vhembe District Executive mayor Freda Nkondo and Musina Local Municipality mayor Godfrey Mawela.
