Limpopo MEC for Social Development Nkakareng Rakgaole has praised the Limpopo Gambling Board for their donation of early childhood development learning materials to ten ECD centres in Vhembe.

Speaking at the Sharpen Word Christian centre in Manamani during the handover of ECD learning materials and educational toys, MEC for social development, Nkakareng Rakgoale said she was happy continue the program of distributing ECD learning material and educational toys to ten identified Early Childhood Development Centres.

The MEC quoted revered late ANC leader Ntate Oliver Tambo to show her care for children.

She said: “He once said: ‘The children of any nation are its future. A country, a movement or a person that does not value its youth and children does not deserve its future.’”

She handed learning material, and educational toys, as well as the mobile ECDs or Non-Centre Based ECD Programmes.

“ECDs are a comprehensive approach to programmes and policies for children from birth to nine years of age with the active participation of their parents and caregivers. Its purpose is to protect the rights of children through access to development of their full cognitive, emotional, social and physical potential. It is therefore imperative for these ECDs to be equipped with the kind of material we are handing over today,” she said.
