Community sings Julia Munyai’s praises

The mayor of Makhado’s late wife was given a dignified burial on Saturday

Community of Tshakhuma condoles with family after Ms Julia Munyai passed on

The late Julia Munyai, who was the wife of the mayor of Makhado Local Municipality Samuel Munyai, was given a dignified send off at Tshakhuma on Saturday.

Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni who is a member of the ANC’s National Executive Committee and the National Working Committee spoke on behalf of the ANC and offered condolences.

She put a good word for the late woman to the mourners telling them about the late woman’s commitment in servicing the community.

MS Ntshavheni was speaking at the funeral service held Mulangaphuma sports ground in Tshakhuma in the funeral service also attended by other ANC bigwigs who included MP’s Faith Muthambi and Jerry Ndou.

Born on June 9 1975, she was the second born son of Mr Machebele Tshabalala Elias Pikani and his wife Mrs Budeli Denga Rosina.

She started her schooling at Hlawulekani Primary school before going to Humula.

She completed her secondary education at Mavhungu Andries in Tshakhuma.

She met her future husband Mr Samuel Munyai, the mayor of Makhado, popularly known as Duba Buse, in Tshakhuma where she was doing sewing and hair dressing.

They were married and blessed with three children, namely Thina Aubrey, Gundo Florence and Mukhethwa Hope.

Speaker after speaker said she was a hard worker.

A longstanding ANC member she was also in the leadership of the ANC Womens ’League as well as the South African National Civic Organisation.

A member of the Zion Christian Church, she was also in the employ of the Vhembe District Municipality as a cleaner since 2018.

Tombstone unveiling

She passed away on Friday April 7 after showing o signs of illness.

She was laid to rest at the local cemetery where the tombstone unveiling event was also held.

Community members in the area spoke well of her, saying despite the fact that her husband held a high position in the government, she remained humble.
