Makhado mayor promises to consolidate community demands
Municipality announces R1 703 892 billion budget

The Makhado Local Municipality mayor Samuel Munyai has promised community members that that
the municipality would sit down and consolidates their demands into one IDP documents.
The mayor was speaking at Waterval Community hall during the 2023 -2024 IDP & Budget
Consultative meeting for Luvuvhu and Waterval regions.
During the meeting, the municipality presented a budget of R1 703 892 budget for the financial year.
Different speakers representing their constituencies talked about challenges in their areas.
The most common among the challenges area bad roads, scarcity of water, lack of jobs and housing
challenges.
Ndhavezitha Xikuwani from Ward 2 said he was sent by his people to present a memorandum of
demands.
They included no proper streets.
“Sometimes cars from the mortuary are unable to reach some families because of poor streets and
we need your intervention,” he said.
Similar complaints came from Ward 2, also called Elim Makhongele.
There was also a demand for the Elim graveyard to be fenced and the provision of toilets in then
graveyard.
An appeal was made for a library and recreational centre at Elim.
Almost all the wards in the two regions requested similar items.
After the submissions, the mayor who chaired the proceedings said questions would not be
answered on the spot but all the submissions would be looked at by the municipality and be looked
at.
He however said with the budget so far, the municipality would not be able to meet all the demands.
