Collins Chabane Local Municipality mayor Gezane Shadrack Maluleke whose municipality achieved three consecutive unqualified audit opinions in financials for three consecutive years has attributed the success of the municipality to unity and commitment to work by both the administrative and political components.
The municipality named after the late former MK commander, former Robben Island prisoner who later became cabinet minister Collins Chabane also managed to spend 100% of Municipality Infrastructure grant for four consecutive years. It has received awards to show for it.
Chabane departed on March 15 2015 outside Polokwane in a car accident.
In tabling his state of the municipality address at Malamulele Community hall on Wednesday, Maluleke hailed the success of the municipality.
“The municipality has received sustainable clean audit of predetermined objectives or performance information for years in succession.
I want to commend team work spirit prevailing in the municipality. Team work has rewarded us, “he said.
He singled out municipality manager Richard Shilenge for praise as the head of administration.
Maluleke tabled the annual budget for the next three financial years.
He announced the 2023/4 budget as R773, 121 million, the 2024/25 budget as R773, 210 million and the 2025/26 budget as R773, 343 million.
The event was attended by different stakeholders including traditional leaders.
