“Let us put our differences aside and serve our people.”
These were the words of the new Makhado mayor Dorcus Mboyi following her appointment.
Mahandana Dorcus Mboyi, a longstanding councillor in the ANC ticket was appointed during the municipality’s special council sitting.
She replaces the former mayor Samuel Munyai who resigned earlier in the week in the the ruling party’s musical chairs.
Mboyi was a councillor since 2006 and has held several positions in the ruling ANC party.
She was also a speaker at the same municipality from 2021 to 2023.
In her acceptance speech she emphasised unity and made a plea that without unity the people would not be served well.
During the same siting, the spokesperson for the ANC in Vhembe, Gumani Mukwevho-Mtileni was appointed the speaker of the municipality.
