LEDET MEC tells Malamulele SANCO to include all
Limpopo MEC for economic Development, tourism and environment Thabo Mokone has hailed Sanco in Malamulele for giving awards to several people in the community who have made a mark in different areas and urged them to escalate to include as many people as possible.
Speaking at the Faith Chapel Church during the Sanco Collins Chabane Local Municipality ward 3 awards, Mokone who realised there was no local municipality representation and no youth and school going children, Mukone suggested that should change.
“This is a good project, a sort of excellence award, and this must be emulated by civics in other areas but you cannot talk alone but there should be school children who should be motivated when other people get awarded,” he said.
Mokone said his office, if approached would work with the body in organizing next year’s event.
Many notable people in Malamulele received awards after Sanco acknowledged their role in the community.
They included founder businessmen including the late Cheapside Mathebula and Gilbert Madume who received posthumous awards.
The award reprints also included veteran medical doctor ZB Hlungwani. Well known boxing trainer Eric Baloyi was also awarded.
The event was significant in that it was the first time an event of such type happens in the area.
Sanco head Charlie Khosa pledged to do better in the next edition and thanked the MEC for attending the event.
