Collins Chabane arts and culture forum launched

Mr Solly Makamu, of the well-known Mafenya Brothers band has been elected the chairperson of the Collins Chabane arts and culture forum.

Giving the purpose of the event Dr Lemson Maluleke who represented manager Richard Shilenge said the aim of the forum was to coordinate the works of all arts forms so the municipality is able to meet with them easily.

Mudau Tshivheyoho was elected the deputy chairperson.
Michael Baloyi from Jimmy Jones is the secretary and deputised by Amos Baloyi while Mrs Magadzi TG is the secretary. The committe elected represented different categories. Councillor Harry Chauke who represented mayor Gezani Shadrack Maluleke discouraged people from copying the works of artists. He said this reduced artists to poor people.

He said he was happy to launch the forum.
He said the municipality was ready to work hand in hand with the forum to improve the life of artists.
In his acceptance speech, the new chairperson Makamu promised to work hard.
