Executive mayor Nkondo empathises with people living with Albinism

Vhembe Executive Mayor

Vhembe District Municipality Executive Mayor Freda has vouched her municipality will do what it can do to champion the interests of people living with albanism.

Nkondo was giving her message of support at the World Albinism Day event at the Vhembe Council
Chamber in Thohoyandou on Wednesday,
“First let me reiterate our solidarity with people living with Albinism. As Vhembe district we have a
disability forum led by Mr A T Makhanthisi.

It is well functioning and just over a week ago we net to
discuss issues affecting people living with disability,” she said.
Nkondo spoke under the theme: Demanding our right, protect our skin and preserve our lives.
She hailed the resilience and perseverance of people living with albinism in the face of
misconceptions, discrimination and violence.

She said the theme entails awareness campaigns and highlighting the plight of people living with skin
cancer.
She said the action plan will include awareness campaigns and hoe best the institution can cater for
the needs of people living with disability.
