Executive mayor hails international breakthrough as she announces budget
Local girl praised for attaining a degree in China

Vhembe District Executive mayor Freda Nkondo has praised a local girl who attained a degree in China.
Makhafo Fulufhelo has attained a Bachelor of Mechatronics in Engineering specialising in Robotics and Automation.
She returned to the country on Thursday and she attended the Vhembe district budget event on Friday.
The executive mayor called the young girl to the stage to hail her success which she said would assist the district.
“We need people with various skills and as such we applaud her” she said.
The young girls was given a seat next to the executive mayor while she was delivering her speech.
The executive mayor also announced the exchange programme existing between Vhembe FET and China.
She praised the principal Basane Hlekane who was also called to stand next to the executive mayor and the crowd clapped hands for her.
Eight students and two lecturers from Vhembe Tvet College have just gone to China on a12 month program to learnt manufacturing, installation and solar maintainance, back up batteries and inventors.
The executive mayor also revealed that 19 students from Vhembe have also travelled on a 12 month project about Cross border E Commerce and entrepreneurship training,an initiative of the Chinese Culture centre and W &R SETA.
Four lecturers from the district have just returned from Germany while two have returned from the United States.
All were learning about renewable energy skills.
Coming to the budget, the executive mayor announced the revenue budget of R2, 754, 223 billion, R2, 943, 331 billion and R3, 140, 095 billion for 2024/5, 2025/6 and 2026/7.
She said the municipality was 77 per cent dependent on grant but was reviewing its revenue collecting strategies.
The municipality also hasagranr register to identify and assist those households that are not affording to pay for basic services.
Nkondo congratulated president Cyril Ramaphosa for his re-election as well as premier Phophi Ramathuba for her achievement of being the first woman premier in Limpopo.
She says the municipality has received the successive qualified opinion but hopes to improve the audit opinion after looking at suggestions of the Auditor General.
The event was hugely attended with the dignitaries including MP Carol Phiri, traditional leaders and mayors from local municipalities.
The executive mayor later danced with her colleagues before going for a photo shoot with various leaders.
