General Masemola hands over state of the art police stations at Muyexe and Bolobedu

PRETORIA The South African Police Service (SAPS) is proud to announce the official opening of Muyexe and Bolobedu police stations in Limpopo province. The inauguration ceremonies, held on Monday, 20 May 2024 were led by the National Commissioner of the SAPS, General Fannie Masemola.

The new police stations are part of SAPS’s ongoing commitment to enhance safety and security in communities as well as providing policing services in high density areas. These state-of-the-art facilities are equipped with modern infrastructure and technology, aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of police services.

Speaking at the opening ceremonies in Muyexe and Bolobedu, the MEC Ms Florence Radzilani highlighted the importance of these new stations in fostering a safe and secure environment for all residents.

“On behalf of the Provincial Government and the people of Muyexe and Bolobedu, who are the biggest beneficiaries of these projects, we are thankful that today, we are able to launch them and officially hand them over to the rightful owners. The openings coincide with the launch of the child protection month, and it will assist in heightening the fight against gender-based violence and child abuse,” said MEC Radzilani.
 
For our part as the Department responsible for Community Safety, in the Province, we continue to provide and oversee the functionality of the Community Police Forums – as a link to bridge relations between the two entities. We shall also be doing the same at both police stations, and we shall endeavour to ensure that, CPF’s and all its related structures are fully functional,” added MEC Florence Radzilani.
 
The National Commissioner of SAPS General General Fannie Masemola emphasized the role of the community in supporting the police. “Safety is a collective responsibility. We urge the community to work hand-in-hand with our officers to report crime and suspicious activities,” said General Fannie Masemola.

The National Commissioner of Police also took time to thank the communities for their patience with regard to the construction of the Police Stations, which took longer than anticipated. He reiterated that the police stations don’t belong to the Station Commanders and Police Officers working there but belong to the community .

“Our mandate is to ensure we provide service to you, prevent, combat, and investigate crime, maintain public order, and ensure we protect all the citizens and their properties. We will also ensure we deal decisively with those who don’t comply with the law and bring them to justice. The members of the community must at all times be afforded the chance to open cases and never be turned away to solve their issues at home. Our duty is to open cases and ensure they are thoroughly investigated,” added General Fannie Masemola.

The National Commissioner further acknowledged that Bolobedu policing precinct is big, highlighting the need for another police station especially at Bolobedu South. He ensured communities that this process will be prioritised and fast-tracked.

“Together, we can build safer neighbourhoods and communities ,” concluded the National Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola.

Both police stations will offer a full range of services, including crime prevention, detection, and support services. The facilities also feature designated areas for victim support, ensuring that those affected by crime receive compassionate and comprehensive care.
