There was no schooling and all businesses were closed in Malamulele town in the Collins Chabane Local Municipality has the community embarked in mass action over crime.
Community members through the local branch of Sanco resolved to embark on mass action following criminal incidents in the area that included the shooting to death of an EPP high school learner at his home and the rape of a young girl.

On May 7 at 02hrs30, two men in baclavas allegedly broke into the house of Mr Mandla Romeo Khosa,43, a robbed him of a number of items. “They pointed a firearm at him and demanded money. When he said he did not have money, they took his cellphone and went to the other rooms,”said a statement from the police.
He later noticed that his son Xilaveko was bleeding after being shot once in the head and his 17 year old daughter had been raped.
An ambulance was called to take both victims to hospital and Xilaveko was declared dead on arrival.
Khosa listed items totalling approximately R36 000 that were robbed from his house. They included a cellphone, HP laptop, a bicycles amongst them.

This has enraged the community that embarked on a mass action.
All roads to Malamulele Town were closed.
The community marched to the police station to handover a memorandum of their demands.
It was not immediately clear what will happen tomorrow as the community was to have another meeting to chart the way forward.
