Tim Hlongwane attains PhD in education

The village of Shitlhelani in the a Collins Chabane Local Municipality in Limpopo is the home of new Doctor of Philosophy holder in education Dr Thomas Hlongwane.
He has received PhD in education from.Unisa-College.of Education.

His thesis was: Exploring parental involvement in former model C schools on South Africa.
A case study was Tshwane.South.District where he investigated the.challenges of parental involvement in former model C schools in Tshwane South District.amd strategies to address them. The findings identified poverty, unemployment, parents’ low educational level,teachers and learners’ negative attitudes, work related commitments and time constraints as the barriers to parental involvement.
Many people mostly from Limpopo commented in different social media hailing Hlongwane for his achievements.

“He will inspire many young people even from our village to work hard to succeed,” said Jinion Chabalala, a local leader who is a ward councillor for the Collins Chabane Local Municipality.
After matriculating from Malamulele high school on 1993, Hlongwane went Giyani College of Education where he did a four year teachers diploma . He later joined Khanyisa Education Centre as an English and Science teacher.
It was while he was at Khanyisa that he enrolled for a Bachelor of Education Honours degree at Wits University and completed in 2002.
He was later awarded a Nelson Mandela scholarship which afforded him a chance to study at th e United Kingdom. He completed from Bristol University in 2005.
Upon his return, he was employed by the Gauteng Department of education as a teacher.
He rose through the ranks and I as recently promoted to the position of Deputy Chief Education specialist in charge of school governance.
This is inline with his PhD which looks at parental involvement in schools.
