Shock as Xigalo community leader dies

One of the most well-known leaders at Xigalo in the Collins Chabane Local Municipality, Thomas Maluleke known as Maphewukeni has died. According to the information released by the ANC in the area, Maluleke died on Saturday at an undisclosed hospital in Johannesburg. Announcing the death, ANC Collins Chabane subregional secretary Peter Shirindzi said the man died of natural causes.
“Details such as a memorial service and the funeral service will be announced in due course,” said Shirindzi. At the time of his passing Maluleke was carrying many positions of responsibility. Amongst the many responsibilities he was charged with, Maluleke who was a deputy principal at Shimambane Higher Primary school was the secretary of the ANC in ward 26. He was also the secretary of Sanco at Shigalo.
A workaholic, Maluleke was also a Sadtu member and the former secretary of Xigalo Policing Forum. He was also the former deputy secretary of Hosi Xigalo Installation Steering Committee as well as the head of the Vanwanati clan For many years, he was at the helm serving the community .
