The family of the late Gazankulu homeland leader Professor Hudson Ntsanwisi is in deep mourning after the death of his widow Beatrice Ntsanwisi a month before she could turn 98.
She died of natural causes.
A statement from the family said: “Dear family and friends, with sore heart we would like to inform you that our mother Beatrice Nina Ntsanwisi, intombi yase Matolweni, eNgcongcoloza, eTsomo passed away at midday 11th June. She leaves a void that cannot be filled. Age has nothing to do with it. We thank God for allowing us to look after her and in a sense hanging in there to continue enjoying her company. Hamba kahle Tolokazi, Isikhukukazi sase Tsomo. May the Lord hold you in the palm of his hand as you are reunited with your loved ones.”
According to the family, funeral arrangements were not completed by the time of going to press.
According to a source who work closely with her during the time of the Gazankulu homeland, she organized bursaries for many poor children to go to universities. She was also known to be against corporal punishment at the time it was fashionable.
Her husband Professor Ntsanwisi died on March 23 1993 aged 72.
