Honour for choral music gurus

A total of seven choral music gurus, past and present, will be honoured in Giyani, Limpopo Province on Saturday.

The event has been organised by Giyani Philharmonic Choir founded by Germany based Dr Musa Nkuna and Bold Move Radio of Pastor Strike Manganyi.

Four late doyens will be awarded posthumous awards.

The internationally renowned Giyani Philharmonic Choir will honour legends of traditional music on Saturday

They are Mr BJ Hlengani, Dr SJ Khosa, Mr JCJ Mavikane and Mr RS Mtsetweni.

Those who will be honoured while they are still alive are Mr Ntota Lesley Nkuna, Mr EP Maswanganyi and Mr MJ Maphophe.

They will all be honoured for have made outstanding contributions to choral music and Pastor Strike Manganyi will present the honours.

The founder of the choir Dr Nkuna is a person of international repute’

He is a composer and conductor known throughout the world.

He established the choir in 2014 as a premier ensemble dedicated to the western choral music as well as African choral music.

The choir meets thrice a week for rehearsals under the guidance of  co-conductor Emmanuel Masenamela.

It also boasts of powerful individuals in its board.

The board comprises Professor Tinyiko Maluleke, Dr Rhulani Khosa, Dr Peters Mathebula, Mr Sydney Baloyi, Mr Mbuwa Ngomani and Dr Rodney Myakayaka.
