MEC Phophi Ramathuba shuns scammers asking for money in her name

Limpopo MEC for health Phophi Ramathuba distances herself from those asking for money in her name and says it is the work of scammers.
The MEC was reacting to the message that goes around soliciting money from people claiming that the MEC is experiencing financial challenges with her bank account.
People sympathetic to the MEC are then coaxed to deposit the money to bail the MEC out of her alleged financial morass.
But according to the statement released by the MEC’s spokesperson Thilivhali Muavha this is not genuine.
“We request anyone who may have been contacted to ignore this imposter and possibly report such criminal acts to the nearest police station,” Muavha said.
He said it is not the first time that scammers have used the MEC’s name to solicit money from people.
“The MEC requests anyone to be vigilant when someone asks for money using her name. She frowns upon such criminality and will do anything humanly possible to unmask this shameless fraudster,” said Muavha.
