Well known Malamulele based cleric Prophet Phahlela Simon Shirinda who has attained a doctorate degree in Christian Counselling from an American institution hails the value of a community radio in the fight against Covid -19 pandemic.

Prophet Shirinda, better known as Gee Gee Chapu, has attained Doctor of Philosophy in Christian Counselling from US based Lighthouse Christian College in  Beebe, Arkansas in the United States.

His thesis was: The role of community radio as a complementary tool during the Covid -19 pandemic in the Collins Chabane Local Municipality in Limpopo, South Africa.

In the interview, prophet Shirinda said he researched the role played by MalaFm community radio during the pandemic.

“I did my research and I realised that even the local municipality relied on the radio to disseminate information during the pandemic,” he said.

He also said that according to his research, the Covid -19 pandemic was not the first one in history.

“The Bible mentions a pandemic during the time of Pharaoh,” he said.

The well-known prophet Shirinda who is also a well known gospel musician says he started to register with the institution when in 1995 he registered for Bachelor of Arts in Theology.

In the year 2014, prophet Shirinda trained Bachelor of Theology from Hebron College in Witbank.

In the year 2017, he attained a major in Christian Counseling from the same institution.
