Public comments sought on draft management plans for Table Mountain Park and its marine protected area

The South African National Park has commerce its revision of the management plan for the Table Mountain National Park and the development of the management plan for the Table Mountain National Park Protected Area. This is in terms of sections 39, 40 and 41 of the National Environmental Management protected Areas Act, 2003 (Act NO.57 of 2003). Flowing from that, SANParks invites public comment on the draft management plans for the two. SANParks said in a statement:” The draft management plans will guide the management of the park and the marine protected area for the period 2027-2036. In line with legislative requirements , interested and affected stakeholders are invited to review and comment on the draft documents.” It added that electronic documents for the plans will be available from February 9 on the SANParks website . Hard copies may also be viewed on 09 February at selected public libraries, community centres and SANParks offices across Cape Town and surrounding areas. SANParks will host a series of public information sessions between 23 February and 13 March 2026. This includes in-person meetings across the metro as well as virtual MS Team sessions, to provide stakeholders with an opportunity to engage on the draft management plans and submit input. Written comments may be submitted electronically to Andre’ Spies whose email address may be obtained on the SANParks website. The closing date is 03 April 2026.
