INTERNATIONALLY renowned traditional healer Professor Slvester Hlati has passed on, SABC news reported today. The well known traditional healer died in a Mbombela Hospital following a short illness, according to the SABC. He was 74. His passing was confirmed by General Maggie Mathebula who is the family spokesperson. Based in Malamulele, Professor Hlati was known throughout the world particularly in neighbouring Mozambique where he was born. He made a name a few years ago when he started with the idea of building a university for traditional medicine in Malamulele which was still in its inception at the time of his passing. He also made a name for himself iin the area of social responsibility as he has donated to many worthy causes.. As a leader of traditional healers in the whole Sadec region, he has campaigned strongly against the mindset of those traditional healers who hankered after the belief that human parts can work as muti to fortify people in their business. He also assisted the government in campaigns against HIV/Aids. He was a well rounded leader who was very conversant in several fields.
