KNP implement recautionary measures because of severe weather conditions

The Kruger National Park has implemented proactive measures in view of severe weather conditions. These measures have been implemented to ensure the safety of visitors and staff, SANPark says in a statement. “These measures have been implemented in the light of Level 6 severe weather warning issued for Limpopo Province from Sunday 11 january to Monday 12 january,” said the statement. One of the measures implemented is the evacuation of Sirheni and Bateleur camps. This has been done to avoid challenges in case of flooding. On the other hand, guests at Balule and Pafuri are given an option to stay as these two camps are not at risk. SANPark has also stated that for guests flying in and out of Skukuza Airport, plans are in place to safely access the airport via Shalati Railway station , and Concessions are part of the Disaster management Committee. Airlink will also deploy additional resources from Johannesburg to support safe tourist movement between the airport and various accomodation facilities in the park. “Guests are encouraged to remain vigilant, follow official communication channels for updates , and cooperate with park officials during this period of heightened risk. Those who wish to cancel or reschedule their booking may do so by calling the central reservations during working hours at 012 4289111.Campers are encouraged to book to tourism accommodation rather remain in the campsites and no extra costs will be charged,” said SANPark in a statement.
