Kgodumodumo Dinosaur Centre celebrates first anniversary in style
The Kgodumodumo Dinosaur Centre in the Golden Highlands National Park in the Free State made history on June 22 when it celebrated its first anniversary and also welcomed its 100 000th visitor.
Mr Pieter Kemp from Parys in the Free State and his family of 5 were recorded as the 100 000th visitors on the KDIC register.
This is against a total of 101 100 recorded thus far visiting the centre.
The dinosaur centre has welcomed 272 schools and 40 317 learners and educators.
The facility also boasts a coffeeshop and bistro named Phoka that has been contracted to a local entrepreneur, currently employing around 20 staff members who are members of the local community.
Having established itself as a cultural, educational and scientific attraction, the centre draws visitors from all across Southern Africa and beyond.
In its statement, SANParks said as it enters its second year, the centre “remains committed to inspiring curiosity, advancing public understanding of science and heritage, and providing a world-class visitor experience that celebrates Africa’s remarkable prehistory story”.
