Hosi Shigamani thanks family for giving granny a super funeral

Hosi Bohani Shigamani who doubles up at the secretary of the Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa in Collins Chabane Local Municipality has praised the Mthombeni and Siwela families for giving granny Nwa Xolwani Mthombeni a dignified funeral.
Born on 14:January 1914, the granny died on August 5 2022 aged 107. She was buried at her home area of Salema under Xikundu area on Saturday.

Hosi Shigamani was impressed with the arrangements at the funeral and thanked everybody who had a hand in the arrangements particularly the families of Mthombeni and Siwela.
Speaking at the funeral, Hosi Shigamani said: “While we are mourning her death and celebrating her life, I will not fail to mention that I am impressed with the way that her sending off was something to sing and dance about, with a Marquee tent normally used in funerals of business people and millionaires and this was a fitting sending off for her,” he said.

Hosi Shigamani who spoke on behalf of her family said people should celebrate the life well spent.
Another speaker businessman Rirhandzu Owner Siwela said although the family felt bad about losing her, people should understand that she needed to be released from the pain she felt after falling ill for a long time.


The well known businessman whose African name is Rirhandzu criticised the use of African names acquired from bush schools and said Xitsonga speaking people did not know the meanings of the names nor did they understand the recitations. “Yet our people have the nerve to call them our traditional names,” he said.

Her son Victor Mthombeni, himself a retired teacher said he lamented the loss of his mother who was the unifier at his greater family. ” Despite her advanced age, I will miss my mom,” he said.
The granny was a reputed danced at cultural xigubu events and later in church.
She is survived by her twins Victor and Noria, 27 grand children, 53 great grand children and 19 great great grand children. The Village Voice is condoling with the family for the loss of the dear granny
