New water project handed over to the community

The traditional leadership at Khubvi on the Thulamela Local Municipality in Vhembe District Municipality has pledged to work in unison with the district municipality to fight vandalism.
On the world wide acclaimed Mandela Day, Vhembe District Municipality Executive Mayor Freda Nkondo handed over a newly completed water project to the communities of Damani and Tshipako in the Khubvi area.
Speaking at Damani where the event was held musanda Vho Thinawanga Leonard Randima.
He said he noted the words from the Executive mayor when she called on the community to look after the project because of they allowed vandalism, this might disturb water provision.
The executive mayor said she was aware that the newly completed project did not cover the whole area as it did not include extensions in the villages.
But she said the Municipality would assist the extensions by sending water tankers to provide water to extensions while also sending a team from the technical services to look into how extensions will be covered.
“#Ri Nwa Madi: Hi nwa mate,” she said.
Accompanied by newly elected chief whip Josephine Mukwevho and newly speaker Tshotheli Davhani, she went to Tshotheli where she tasted the water to the delight of members of the community.
Musanda Vho Randima said theu are ready to work with the Municipality to fight crime in the form of making illegal connections.
But he urged the Municipality to assist the community by coming out with bi-laws.
