Two people die as heavy rain storms wreck havoc in Collins Chabane municipality

Two elderly people identified as Claudin Chauke (47) and N’watlavula Shivambu(100) were allegedly killed by the heavy storm that took place in several villlages in the Collins Chabane municipality.
Makuleke, Bevhula, and Khodobi were some of the most affected villages.
The storms left households without homes and damaged the roof of Khadzini primary school in Bevhula village and Khodobi primary school in Penningotsa village .
Both the mayor of Collins Chabane Local Municipality Joyce Bila and Executive Mayor of Vhembe district municipality Florence Radzilani visited the families and pledged to offer the affected families assistance such as blankets and food stuufs.
Executive mayor Radzilani said she was touched by the incidents. “We will offer our helping hand as the government . As the government of the people we are not happy to lose some of our people,” she said. A grade 10 learner is still recovering at Malamulele hospital after a zinc cut his head .
Many households in the affected areas are left with no roofs over thgeir heads. There is also no electricity. At the time of going to press The Village Voice was to visit all the affected areas to assess the extent of the damage caused.
