We are on track to bring services to communities, says Vhembe District Executive mayor

Vhembe District Executive Mayor Freda Nkondo says her municipality on track to bring services to the people including water provision.

Nkondo said this when she held her press conference at the Mayoral Boardroom to outline her successes in her first 100 days as executive mayor. She said she first held several meetings on the local municipalities in order to be clued up with challenges facing communities. She also visited several water treatment plants in order to check their conditions regarding water provision to communities.
“I found that a lot of work need to be done regarding the maintenance and refurbishment of water plants ” she said.

She said during this time she was able to hand over ten vehicles to the municipality’s technical services department. She also said that by the end of February, vacant positions meant for technical services would be advertised.The municipality has also unveiled three new fire tankers. This is aimed at improving the responses to fire and rescue incidents.
The executive mayor has also met with senior traditional leaders in order to take them on board and to seek their cooperation.
She also helps a mayoral imbizo at Mbodi Tasha fhasi.
She does not underestimate the dire need for water in the district.”The district has a plan for water provision throughout the district.There are plans to construct bulk water pipeline and internal reticulation for various villages,” she said.
She promised to work hard for the people of Vhembe. The executive mayor later posed for photos with representatives of different media houses.
