Mbuyelo Group appreciates school for turning the corner

The high riding Honoka Combined school which is based at Rivala village in the Greater Giyani Local Municipality has received a shot in the arm.

Pastor Thomas Malungani, knows as Ndhunakulu from his role in the soapie Mina hi mina appreciated Honoka school principal Titswalo Mhlanga for turning her school’s fortunes around

The school that has chalked up 100 percent pass for three consecutive years has been appreciated by Mbuyelo Group, a coal mining company owned by businessman and royal Owner Siwela who is the director descendant of legendary warrior Nwamanungu.
At the motivating and prize giving event for the school held at CYC Lodge at Makosha on Wednesday, Vumunhu Foundation, which is one of the arms of Mbuyelo Group appreciated the class of 2023 and motivated the class of 2024.

Speaking at the event, Moleboheng Moletsane who was accompanied by colleague Lesego Ngwane praised the school for doing so well in the exams.”Our CEO was born at Ndengeza, hence our driving to here for the ceremony,” she said.

“There is no greater gift than education…that is why it is every child’s right to receive it,” Moletsane said.
She then added:”We did not come empty handed, but we have gifts for the school just to make learning easier,” she said.She added,”We are giving Samsung tablets and treats for the top three learners. We are also donating R30 000 for the event.”
Many people praised school principal Tintswalo Mhlanga for turning the corner. The school that was once dysfunctional is now one of the all conquering schools.

Moletsane from Mbuyelo Group giving gifts to learners and staff at Honoka Combined school eventm

In last year’s grade 12 results the school has 23 learners doing grade 12.
They all passed with 13 bachelors, 7 diplomas and 3 higher certificates.
Mhlanga said it was not all plain sailing but they had to overcome many challenges to succeed.
“I appreciate the support from Mbuyelo and we are aiming for 100 percent with all learners getting bachelor’s,” she said.
Hosi Bohani Shigamani from Collins Chabane who had been running programmes to motivate learners in his village was a joint guest speaker with academic and cleric Dr RP Sambo to motivate the leaders. Both of them appreciated the good job done by the principal and her staff. Circuit manager Edwin Chabalala and district director Ms Kondy Machumele also praised the efforts of the principal and staff to turn the school’s situation around.
The representative of the Ndengeza traditional council Jackson Siweya said the community was proud of the achievement of the school under Ms Mhlanga.
